Super Exclusivety

Bugatti unveiled the 2007 Bugatti Pur Sang at the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany.

At 1.4 million US dollars it is already the most expensive production car at present. If you are one of those people who just feels too common mingling with the 300 or so other common folk who will have the joy and privilege of owning a Bugatti Veyron in this life, Bugatti has a solution.

Only 5 Pur Sang's will be built & there is no doubt that they have already been spoken. Either way, gotta love the way they look!

In case you were wondering what Pur Sang meant in chinese, I am not sure...cuz according to the press release it's French for "Pure Blood". Talk about snobbery!

Update: Apparently less than 24 hours after being announced all 5 Pur Sang edition Veyrons were sold according to this Bugatti press release.

Automotive Critique

I was checking out CNN's frontpage & I noticed a link to TIME.com titled "The 50 Worst Cars of All Time". I usually tend not to read any automotive stuff on CNN, but my curiousity got the better of me.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ford Edsel, Time commissioned Dan Neil, Pulitzer prize winning automobile journalist from the Los Angeles Times to rate the 50 worst cars of all time.

Dan Neil is known for using obscure analogies in his pieces and he uses some great ones during the course of this 105 year (1899-2004) journey through automotive. His 2004 Pulitzer Prize was incidently for Criticism! He even goes as far as critiquing a car that he owns, an MG MGA.

Here's a complete list of all 50 cars if you don't want to go through the whole slide show.

For further reading here is a list of stories that were submitted for his 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.

One More Thing....

Well, it's really "One more, one more thing" but whatever!

At the end of yesterday's Apple presentation by Steve Jobs a slide with that title appeared & Mr. Apple announced that the 4 GB iPhone was no more. & the 8 GB iPhone was now $399!

Yes, $200 cheaper than it was at introduction 2 months ago. As you can guess the internets were clogged with whining, moaning & apple fanboys trying not to break out into tears :)

Today Steve Jobs in an open letter announced that anyone who's bought an iPhone is gonna get a $100 credit to the apple store.

Yay??!!

Mr Jobs, if you are listening 3G 3G 3G 3G......we saw what you did yesterday with the WiFi faster than 3G line.....I hope you haven't forgotten, the iPhone has EDGE.

Here's to the Gen 2 iPhone!!

RIP: Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007)

Luciano Pavarotti passed away today after suffering from pancreatic cancer for some time, he was 71. His distinctive tenor voice is known worldwide & his performances & recordings have always been top sellers.

His death seems to have triggered a renewed interest in his music as evidenced by this snapshot of the top sellers in the Classical & Opera section on Amazon.com as of 11 AM EST today:

Counting and Searching

Today the Google Reader interface was a little different when I got in to check my feeds. Apparently the application learned to search and count overnight!

The 2 things that most people have complained about have been fixed, first of all you can now search through your subscriptions & second it can now count.....only upto a 1000 though, but it's still a lot better than 100!
